Mobile phone games are still evolving - and a lot of them are pretty, well, terrible. However, there were more than a few mobile games that really showed what gaming-on-the-go on your phone could really be.

Critter Crunch
Addictive Bejeweled-meets-Space Invaders puzzle gameplay with a tongue-y twist

God of War: Betrayal
Sony’s punch-happy God of War makes a successful mobile transition

Guitar Hero Mobile
Guitar Hero goes mobile with two minute songs on three frets - and all fun

Might & Magic II
The second Might & Magic game on mobile maintains the deep gameplay and beautiful visuals of the first one

Orcs & Elves II
John Romero’s RPG series continues its great gameplay, inspiring a Nintendo DS version

And the Winner Is:
Guitar Hero Mobile
Guitar Hero Mobile is a blast to play. Sure, the songs are cut down to 2 minutes a pop. Sure, there’s no vocals. Sure, there’s only 3 frets But everything that’s great about Guitar Hero is condensed for on-the-go gaming, and just like the original, you’ll work hard to get songs perfectly on hard levels, try to earn extra costumes and instruments, and so forth, and at 2 minutes a song, it’s perfect for just getting a bite of gameplay between activity.
Runner Up: Might & Magic II
Might & Magic II is all you could ask for in a mobile RPG - depth like the original M&M games from long ago, and plenty of interesting scenes and combat.
