Super Mario World: Wii Virtual Console

It’s about damn time we see a hot mario title on the virtual console. When it comes to retro gaming there are two schools of thought: old school games and old school awesome games. Super Mario Brothers is old school, for sure, but Super Mario World is where it’s at.
C’mon, the best Mario title? Are you kidding!? This is by far, one of the best franchise releases by Nintendo involving Mario and his buddies. We’re a big fan of Super Mario Bros. II because you were able to select different characters to complete the levels but we cannot forget dinosaurs!
Name another game where you were able to ride a dinosaur and look cool (please, no World of Warcraft horde mount e-mails please). Super Mario World, for the uninitiated goes like this…
“Princess Toadstool set out on a vacation to Dinosaur Land. However, during this vacation Princess Toadstool is kidnapped and a spell is placed on the inhabitants of Dinosaur Land. Accidentally stumbling upon Yoshi, a dinosaur, Mario and Luigi hear that it is Bowser’s doing. Wanting to take control of Dinosaur Land for its natural resources, Bowser has cast a powerful spell trapping the Yoshis in eggs since they tried to stop Bowser earlier. Waiting for someone to liberate them, Mario and Luigi must go through seven distant castles and defeat the Koopalings to reach Bowser and save the Princess – stopping his latest scheme.”
Yeah, there is a story behind it, but all that matters is you and your buddy Yoshi kick some major A$$. The rest is history.
What’s it going to cost you to get in on this Wii action? 800 Wii points and a dream (read: classic controller or GameCube controller).

This game is my fav VC purchase so far! I LOVE this game to death. It’s just so much fun to pick up and play.
It looks really nice on my 50″ screen too.
It took me about 3 minutes to get back my ‘feel’ for the game. Meaning I stopped dying due to missed jumps while trying to squash a goomba!

Don’t people still own this? WTF.
It’s the one thing about the Wii that doesn’t sell it for me: old games that I already own.
