“Get-a-Mac” Apple Ad Splats in the UK

You know those smug Apple computer ads with a fat loser representing Microsoft OS and the hip, smug cool kid as the Mac OS? Well, they’re backfiring in a big way in Great Britian.
According to a report in the British business magazine PC Retail, the British ad has dropped the company’s “buzz” factor from +14 to +8, according to UK industry analyst YouGov’s BrandIndex rating. Even worse, the Apple press hates the ads, too.
What do you think? Aren’t the US version of the ads - which have different actors than the UK versions, incidentally - just as smug? Do you like the ads or hate them? Do they remind you of those annoying Dude, you’re gettin’ a Dell! ads?

I can’t STAND those ads. They leave out the fact that Apple has been patching the hell out of the OS X, that Safari has vulnerabilities, etc.
Hey, I can say that my ‘95 Neon looks and runs great. Just don’t worry about that engine light, and the passenger side mirror that got knocked off last week by a fallen ice-encrusted tree limb, or the persistent oil and/or transmission fluid leak….
Just once I’d like to see the Mac guy have a complete nervous breakdown when he realizes his system is under attack and he has NO FRICKIN’ IDEA WHAT TO DO!
