Anyone with an RSS news feeder aimed at Xboxic noticed a hot item listed:
Microsoft buys up Chrono series
OMFG! Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger for XBLA? Or, better yet, a new Chrono game for the 360, with next-gen visuals and gameplay, to dominate both the United States and, more importantly, that hard-to-crack walnut that is videogaming in Japan?
But, clicking on the link, there’s nothing, just the following:

Even more suspicious is the fact that on the main Xboxic page the news item numbers jump from 2419 to 2421. Two things are possible: one, someone was talking out of their butt, or two, and more tantalizingly, someone violated their Non-Disclosure Agreement with Microsoft and quickly pulled the news item under penalty of death.
Whatever the case, let the speculation commence!

It was a fake URL.

It was not a fake URL. The news item had the number 2419 and 2421. Are you claiming the RSS lied, or that Xboxic would deliberately skip a news item number?

We apologize for the inconvenience. One of our writers picked up a story from a fake URL that faked the entire IGN layout.
The story is thus absolutely most certainly not true. We pulled it the second we found out, and sincerely apologize for causing the stir.

That’s an awfully bad publicity for Xboxic. How incompetent it was for them to be so stupid
