You wondering what that silly clip-button does on the Wii Classic Remote? You don’t have the remotest idea what we’re talking about?
The Wii Classic Controller has a center-button that, when pushed, slides an internal clamp on the bottom of the controller. Two slots, which “open” when you push this mysterious button seem to want to clamp down on something. But what?
A do-it yourself Wii Remote of course! Apparently, Nintendo has some hidden agenda for this button or just wants a smart engineer to figure it out. Maybe it’s a contest that you can win: “Invent a use for this and we’ll find a way to make money off of you.”
Joystiq.com had this to say about it…
“Tired of waiting for Nintendo to produce a solution, Chris Williams, a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering, made his own clip to attach a Wii remote to the Classic Controller, handily solving one of our Wii annoyances. All it took was three hours of labor and some high-tech equipment to make Williams something of a hero in Nintendo circles.”
Interesting idea, clip the Wii Classic controllerto your Wii remote and you’ve got a sixaxis controller with rumble! Anyone tilt the sixaxis over to see if it has a clamp for a rumble device? We doubt it.
