New 360 Achievement Guidelines

Achievements…some people can’t get enough of ‘em, and some just don’t get ‘em. For those of you that do, this ones for you.

In one of Major Nelson’s recent podcasts, he interviewed Aaron Greenberg, head of Xbox Live Marketplace about some of the new Xbox 360 Achievement guidelines. Microsoft felt that some applications for Achievements had gotten out of control, and wanted to set some standards for developers to follow.

Among the changes such as ensuring a 1000 point standard for retail games, and adding up to 250 additional points for downloadable content, they have also upped the number of possible achievements fom 50 to 60 unlockables.

Apparently there was a bit of confusion over an interview MTV had with Dave Jones, the man behind your ticket into the Halo 3 beta, Crackdown. Jones stated that he had helped raise the limit to 80. As usual, those crazy internet conspiracy theorists realized that 80 does not equal 60.

According to Xbox 360 Fanboy, the issue has been sorted out and confirmed by Aaron Greenberg himself that the established limit is indeed 60 Achievements.

(Thanks Xbox 360 Fanboy.)
