Rumor: Warhawk as a Multiplayer only Downloadable

1up’s Sam Kennedy reports that on a recent visit to Salt Lake City to check out the game that first introduced the Playstation 3’s SIXAXIS controller to the world, that it seems developer Incognito may have completely reworked Warhawk’s concept.

Originally slated to launch with the PS3, Warhawk has been delayed for quite a while, and this may be the reason why. Apparently they have scrapped the disc based version of the game to turn it into a downloadable Playstation Network title.

Not only that, but the game will be void of any single player missions, and be strictly competitive multiplayer. It seems like a strange move to me, but with some of the negative previews out there on the game, its not very hard to see why Incognito didn’t want to take the risk on a full fledged retail game.

Keep an eye here for the official word once NDA breaks.

(Thanks, 1Up.)
