Pitchers and catchers have reported, and so will the two most highly anticipated baseball games in a long while: Major League Baseball 2K7 and MLB 07: The Show. Whilst Xbox 360, Xbox and Nintendo GBA and DS owners have no choice in the matter, Sony platform owners will have to choose between the two; well, PlayStation 3 owners will have to wait til April to decide since The Show will not appear til early April. (Is Sony trying to torpedo the PlayStation 3?) This is also potentially The Last Great Game for the original black Xbox, and will probably send the old machine out with class.
The Wii will not have the 2K series til next year with MLB 2K8, but they get their groove on with a hot third-party title (and how often does that happen?) with SSX Blur, a truly amazing looking snowboarding game which is already receiving positive critical buzz. The PC also does not get 2K8, but it does get Jade Empires: Special Edition, a magnicent kung fu action RPG by Bioware, as well as… um, er, The Sims 2: Seasons and, uh, Model Train 3D. Well, it’s either that or the Left Behind: Eternal Forces expansion pack. (Pardon me while I force down a dry heave.)
The Xbox 360 gets Bullet Witch and the PlayStation 3 gets F1, both of which are reportedly nice games, though apparently the buzz is Bullet Witch is not very good til you hit the 3rd level. The PSP gets an intriguing title as well: 300: March to Glory, which is based on the upcoming movie with astounding graphics. The one other multiplatform game being released is actually a budget-priced full game update: Samurai Warriors 2: Empires. While the earlier release Samurai Warriors 2 was more or less a mindless hackfast, Empires adds a keen turn-based strategy element, and early reviews indicate this is a very welcome addition to the game. It’s comes out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 PlayStation 2.
So, there’s plenty of games for everyone this coming week, and every machine gets at least one hot title - what more can you ask for? Click “See More” for the full list.
