Mortal Kombat 2 Announced for PSN

The Playstation Network Platform was designed to be a clone of Microsoft’s Xbox Live. As a direct competitor, lately they haven’t exactly done the best job at getting away from Live’s shadow, and emerging as something more than Live. Their downloadables are few and far between, and aren’t exactly too popular.
Well, it looks like Sony starting to wake up a little towards the downloadable games. Today, they announced that they would be bringing Mortal Kombat 2 to their network, perhaps in an effort to show up XBLA’s inferior Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
Due out sometime next month, the classic will be priced at a very reasonable $4.99 and features online play.
Maybe PSN isn’t so doomed after all, if they can continue on the trend of steady releases, and keep offering original content such as flOw and David Jaffe’s Calling All Cars, they may turn out to be more than just a dumbed down Xbox Live clone.
(Thanks 1up.)
