Games For Windows Live Beta Coming Soon

Its been nearly a month since Microsoft’s newest O.S. Windows Vista shipped, and it looks like they are now accepting registration for the impending Games For Windows Live Beta.

An email sent out to many people included the following message:

Are you interested in being part of a select group that is invited to help beta test a new service that lets Windows gamers connect with their friends on the Xbox through the LIVE gaming network? If you are, please read on. The registration period for this upcoming beta testing opportunity will only be available for a limited time. To be considered you will need to complete the Games for Windows - LIVE Beta application survey.

Games for Windows Live will be the foundation that will provide gamers cross platform online gaming between both the Xbox 360 and PC. Many games will be taking advantage of this service, including: Shadowrun, Uno, and Texas Hold Em.

So if you’re into PC gaming, or just want to check out the service, go ahead and sign up for the Beta. It doesn’t look like there is any other way to enter unless you have received the email, but further investigation leads to this Microsoft “Wow” Blog. Apparently if you leave a comment, they will send you an email for further details.

Only limiting factor for me: I don’t dare “upgrade” to Vista…

Not until I hear drivers for video cards and other critical ones are working perfectly (or as perfect as they were on XP).
