MarketWatch reported that Sony may be using Game Developers Conference 2007 to lure developers into creating original IPs, which doesn’t come as any surprise to readers of this site, where we reported that Sony and IBM were offering classes to developers on how develop software for the tricky Cell processor.
The article goes on to talk about what we already know: the PlayStation 3 costs too much to buy, to develop for, and is maddening for developers to program, and crossplatforming is killing the PS3, as is the low price of the Wii. The article also discussed Heavenly Sword and Lair as some of the most potent bullets of PS3’s meager lineup, as well as Phil Harrison’s upcoming keynote speech “Developing and Creating for the 3rd Age of Video Games.” (Note to Phil - it’s the seventh generation of console systems. But then again, console systems didn’t start til Sony said it did with the first PlayStation.)
