While we still cannot get an exact name or product description of Peter Jackson’s Halo project announced at X06, we finally have an update on it. It turns out that, like Half Life and Sam and Max, his upcoming “thing” will be dished out episodically.
This was announced during an interview with Microsoft’s Shane Kim where he mentions that Jackson is working on two different episodic series. Kim also stated:
“Our deal with Peter is not about a film guy who wants to make video games. We’re in the design phase now. The first series will be set in the Halo universe. In addition to this deal, Jackson continues to executive produce the currently on hiatus Halo feature film.”
While it seems like a good idea, I’m still a little skeptical about how this may turn out. Franchises like Sam and Max have been able to churn out a game a month on schedule, but they seem to be a rare breed. Valve promised us episodes of the Half Life franchise, however its been nearly a year since we have seen another episode since the first.
(Thanks 1up.)
