Gears of War Wins More Awards (Yawn)

Gears wins... againGears of War won three more awards at the GDC, including Best Overall Game, Best Technology and Best Visual Arts. In other shocking news, scientists discovered water is wet, the sky is blue, and morning follows night. Okami, the severely underbought and underappreciated PS2 title, won for Best Character Design and Innovation, while Wii Sports won for Best Game Design and Innovation. Aquaria took home the $20,000 Seumas McNally Grand Prize for Best Independent Game.

Gears of War, in my personal opinion, is a fresh look at the DOOM title.

Other then that, nothing special in my opinion. Ability to crouch and run while ducking? So what.

    It’s just another FPS.

An amazing looking, sounding, and playing one, and please don’t compare DOOM 3 with Gears of War. DOOM 3 was a total bore, while Gears was well-written and exciting.

While it was a fresh look to an old game, I think that is what made it fun. They took what was known and revered, then proceeded to tweak and spruce it up to make it their own.

Even though it was short as well, every hour that I did spend playing the game, IMO, was well worth it and deserving of all of the praise.

    What? No multiplayer? :p
