LEGO Batman Announced

After the massive success of the two LEGO Star Wars games, people have thrown out suggestions for the next franchise to be LEGO-ized, like Halo. Well, the next LEGO game will be… The Dark Knight, Batman, as announced in Variety.
Following the huge success of “Lego Star Wars” and its sequel, Warner Bros. has signed a licensing deal with Lego to produce a “Lego Batman” game.
In a significant, and likely costly, pact, Warner also nabbed TT Games, developer of the two “Lego Star Wars” games, to make “Lego Batman.”
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will fully finance and publish the game itself, as well as handle all distribution in North America.
The story arc will probably be a promising Burton opening, followed by a few decades of awful Schumacher suck, followed by a maudlin Nolan ending – but that’s just a guess.
Since Warner Bros. bought the developer, can LEGO Superman be far behind?

I’m pumped about this whole line of Lego games. I loved Lego Star Wars (the original trilogy, of course). The only concern is that they start taking the approach that all they need is the Lego look and the story/details don’t matter.
Half of what is good about the Star Wars games is that the people who made it know what’s good, bad, and funny about the underlying story.
There are so many possibilities for this: Lego TMNT? Lego Transformers? Lego Lord of the Rings? It’s endless.

Warner Bros owns it now, so you can’t really have Lord of the Rings, for instance (that’s New Line). You can have, say, Superman (or any given DC Comics characters, actually.)
LEGO Casablanca?

Damnit. I didn’t even notice the part where they bought TT. I know it’s not this simple, but wouldn’t it be much more profitable for TT to go around to every possible movie franchise and license their work to make the game?
Now that WB owns it, the possibilities are quite limited and very homogenous(e.g. comic books). Lego 300?

No. Do you know how many IPs Warner Bros has?
And incidentally, who says this means there will be no, say, LEGO Halo?

Of course they have a lot of IPs, but they’re not all worthy of being Lego-ized. Superman, the Matrix, and Harry Potter make sense right off the bat, but it drops off pretty quickly after that.
Again, TMNT, Transformers, LOTR would be instant blockbusters in the gaming community. I just wish TT wasn’t limited now.

Lego Indiana Jones will be in stores on June 3rd 2008 and Lego Batman on September 2nd 2008. I am looking forward to those 2 games. I do hope they make a Lego Superman game and Lego Harry Potter would be so awesome. I have a ball playing Lego Star Wars on my PSP.
