Since the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II was first shown, avid players of the Playstation 2 version noticed one key difference in the plastic axe’s functionality: a mysterious port that is reminiscient of a phone line jack.
Joystiq managed to get themselves a copy of the game prior to the street date, and within the instruction manual lies the secret. It turns out that the port, just like many guitar savvy gamers predicted, will be used for an unreleased/unannounced effects pedal, which will be sold separately.
However, many questions still remain on how the device will be integrated into the gameplay–especially since it’s not packed in. It could wind up being a distortion, wah, or just an all purpose stomp box, but however Harmonix manages to work it in, I’m sure it’s going to be quite interesting.
