This Week In Downloadables: April 1-April 7

We’ve had quite a few recent releases on the Xbox Live Marketplace and Playstation Network this week, including a few demos, full games, and HD trailers.
Kicking things off this week on the Xbox Live Marketplace from Behemoth were a few new pieces of content for their head chompin’ title Alien Hominid HD. Among the usual sets of picture packs we’ve grown accustomed to (each 100 MS Points), you can pick yourself up 100 new PDA levels for 150 MS Points. Alongside that was this week’s XBLA title: Luxor 2.
Hitting both XBLM and the Playstation Network was the demo for Armored Core 4. How’s it play? Well, it’s a mech game, just slightly faster than you’re probably used to. Combine that with some pretty weak graphics, and you get a rather mediocre showcase of the game.
Today, Sony released one of the flagship titles for their foray into the downloadable market: Super Rub a Dub–exclusively to the European audience. The game, which still has an unannounced release date for US consoles (though if you really want it you can figure out how to get it) exploits the SIXAXIS’ motion controller as you commandeer a rubber duck through the labyrinthine jungle that is a human bathtub–avoiding all the usual obstacles (pirate ships, sharks, mines) to save your offspring. If you like the free demo enough, you can shell out €4.99 for a 60-level experience.
And finally, the HD trailer that broke the internet for Grand Theft Auto IV is up on both console’s online services. For more on the trailer, be sure to check out Jonah Falcon’s complete dissection.

Review:
Awesome, just awesome - this game is amazing! At first I thought it wasn’t all that after seeing how it transitioned from the E3′05 demo but now that I’ve actually played it and not based my opinion on a negative review (insert well known games review site). This game is a real lil gem, it’s so addictive it’s scary! Think Marble madness crazyness combined with Super Monkeyball tilting shenanigans in a pool of water with ducks’n sharks, this is what this game’s all about> FUN!
The controls are spot on, your in total control and whenever you mess up it is YOUR fault and nobody elses, you’d just brush it off and have another go, and another and another, it’s that addictive! hehe. When you come in the top 5 online scores, your replay is automatically uploaded for all the world to see!
This game is bargain, costing just under 4 squids/$8, you get loads of levels, it’s definitely a more justifiable/interactive purchase than flOw that’s for sure!
Go download the demo, try it, enjoy it, get the full monty and see for yourself how FUN it really is!
