Frankie O’ Connor’s weekly updates have consistently fed the IV drip of Halo related content that gamers have been craving week after week for quite some time. In the wake of the release of Halo 3, he’s given us constant updates on the newest ideas, and insights into the Halo universe, and has even teased new information on what’s looking to be the most important game of this console generation.
But before we start looking too far into the future of our Xbox’s disc drives, we should get the more relevant news out of the way first. As we mentioned, the upcoming map pack for Halo 2 featuring two classic Halo 1 multiplayer maps will be hitting very soon. In fact, within the next two weeks.
In preparation, Bungie will be releasing an auto-update for the title in order to “recognize the new content but we’ve also taken the opportunity to enhance some of our existing Banhammer functionality”
How will it affect you? Most likely, it should be pretty “transparent,” although he warns that some gamers may experience some initial shaky matches. They’ll also be resetting all the rankings for Halo 2, to even the playing field of the game, as well as tidying up the huge span of gaming level.
“Read more” for all the Halo 3 related goodness.
So what’s the latest scoop on Halo 3? O’ Connor goes on to tease us with relatively minuscule (but still interesting) information about the game’s enhanced fusion cores (Halo’s version of exploding barrels), as well as how much the audio has improved.
There will also be another one of their popular Vidoc features hitting the Marketplace that’ll feature some footage of the Alpha build Microsoft employees have been playing for quite some time.
He leads us off with:
So yeah. Big changes coming. Big changes and big news. Next week is going to be significant.
“Significant?” Hmmm, perhaps a final date on the Halo 3 Beta? Or maybe an official release date for the retail version? Keep an eye here for more information.
