Circuit City: Paper Mario In Store by 2:00pm or Receive $20

With the first major release on the Wii since last year, Circuit City is guaranteeing they will have Super Paper Mario in store by 2:00pm today or they will give you a $20 gift card.
This is quite a move for a major retailer as most “big box” stores don’t offer new games until the day after launch. Even the dedicated video game stores rarely receive the newest games until early evening on launch day. It should be noted, however, that there is some confusion over what day Circuit City is considering “launch day.” While the weekly advertisement clearly advertises Paper Mario as “in-store Tuesday, 2pm,” the website listing for the product indicates a release date of “04/12/2007.” For now, we’ll give Circuit City the benefit of the doubt on the release date discrepancy.
This offering comes just one week after Circuit City offered a 1600 Microsoft Points card with the purchase of Guitar Hero II on launch day. These promotions are definitely nothing to sneeze at and make clear that Circuit City is trying to appeal to the very rabid and very profitable video game buyer.
Are these promotions enough to get you to shop at Circuit City?

Oh, yes. I have started going to Circuit City a lot for neat deals. They also have excellent customer service so far.

Dang, and I just got back from Circuit City (bought the new Oblivion expansion which is on sale there this week.) If I would have known about this, I’d have checked. They’ve had this guarantee a few times in the past, and they’ve screwed up their shipping about half the time. I’m rather surprised that they’re still doing this, as they’ve given away a LOT of gift cards…
