Xbox 360 Fanboy is reporting that RedOctane will be releasing Guitar Hero III for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and Wii this coming Fall, only a few months after the release of Guitar Hero II for the 360.
Hopefully, Guitar Hero III for the 360 will allow use of the Guitar Hero II guitar with it, since paying $90 twice, and rendering the current guitar useless, would be hard to take. Guitar Hero III might also debut the rumored pedal if the current guitar is allowable. This will be the first time Neversoft develops the game instead of Harmonix, who had defected to develop Electronic Arts’ Rock Band.
What do you think, too soon for a new 360 version? Excited to play GH3 for the PS3 and Wii?

Something seems to be off because last month it was reported that Guitar Hero 80’s Edition would be up for release in June.

I can’t imagine they’re going to release 3 games in such quick succession. The news on one of these two new releases has to be off. I imagine it’s the 80’s edition since the GH3 news comes straight from RedOctane.

Why not? 80’s Edition wouldn’t include a guitar.

I would bet that the 360 version would be backwards compatible with GH2’s guitar. That’s probably why they included the pedal port - it’s probably a GH3 feature, and they’re wise enough to think ahead and include it in the current version. The question will be how people with the GH2 guitar will get the pedal. I’m guessing that there’ll be 2 packages for GH3: one with the guitar and pedal, and one with just the pedal. We’ll have to see, though.
The real question, though, is will the game have unlockable content?
