A couple of weeks ago, one savage gamer managed to rack up a an unbelievable 999,999 hit combo and posted the video up on YouTube. Upon achieving this feat a little message popped up displaying this URL. At the time it was nothing more than a countdown, but it finally ended yesterday. And boy was everybody disappointed….at first.
Initially, upon the opening of it’s doors, the website was nothing more than mindless rambling from the developers and some desktop wallpapers. But many clever gamers over at the GameFAQs put their heads together to decipher the cryptic nature of the website and found two very significant pieces of information on God of War II. The first was yet another countdown timer that’s slowly revealing a phrase as time goes on. It’s still got roughly 11 days left so it’s for the most part, incomplete.
So what’s the true meaning behind the site? If you’re clever enough to navigate through the labyrinth of clues and puzzles you’ll find yourself with a ressed up, “HD-mode” to play God of War II in. Note the quotation marks though, because it’s not really high definition, rather higher definition at 640*448 resolution.
How do you accomplish this feat? For those of you looking for a challenge, I’ll spare you the spoilers, but those of you feeling rather sloth-like click “Read More.”
Upon completing all the puzzles you’ll get the following message from Director of Technology, Tim Moss:
