Get your tweezers out for the grain of salt you’ll be picking up because rumor has it that StarCraft 2 might be around the corner. Apparently over at the Team Liquid Forums they translated an article from a Korean site Fighter Forum that’s stating that StarCraft 2 is in development and a beta will be surfacing at the end of 2007.
From the article the story will continue from the original and be adding a fourth race based on “Kerrigan” making a total of four. Each race will get around two new additional units, and removable unit limit (200/200).
From what they’re reporting it seems a little light for a brand new game. Seems more like an expansion wrapped in a sequel. But then this is still all rumor, and Blizzard usually gets there hype machine working a bit sooner then a year to Beta. But what you do you think? Are we going to see StarCraft 2 this Winter?

It’s quite possible that Blizzard is working on Starcraft 2, but there ain’t no way it’ll be coming this year if they are. Blizzard is just about the slowest game development company on the face of the planet (right after Valve. You could include 3D Realms on the list here, but I don’t, since I’ve seen no evidence in the past decade that they actually develop games.) Being slow isn’t a bad thing - that’s why Blizzard’s games are so amazingly polished, which is why they’re so great. Still, there’s just no way they’re going to be shipping a game they haven’t announced yet this year.
