The problem lies in the parents letting their son/daughter play older ratting video games, for long periods of time. If the parents dont care for what their child/ youth plays. The players who play for long hours will have effects like aggression, less real friends and more online friend, and less sleeps. This is because the player becomes addicted, and causes them to be more innfluended in these games, like shooting, hitting, violence, and even murder. These effects may have caused the incident at VT-Vergian Tech.

i beg to see how a fat dr. phil can come up with conclusions about video games being the cause when im pretty sure when he was a child they wernt even invented.. he should really consider a career change and let a younger person investigate the facts because he obviously has no idea what hes talking about.. i've been playing video games all my life and im pretty sure im not gonna go out and shoot everyone, 1 because i am stable and have some morals and 2 because getting a gun around here is damn near impossible.

As an avid gamer I have, as do all gamers, a byist view on the video game war. As Travis mentioned I too have been horribly mutilated on the big screen and have swelled with pride as I blew my opponent away with a shotgun. However Dr. Phil, as hard as it is for me to say this, is right, to the extent of his comment that video games help phycopaths, sociopaths, etc. However, as a Philosophist, I tend to question the inherit meanings that most don't even notice. MAVAV, Jack Thompson, and even Dr. Phil are quite contradictory to themselves and eachother via the issue of Violence in Video Games. When a child plays a video game, grabs a gun, and attempt a school shooting, people are hurt, and anti-video game radicals are on the fritz. But let's examine the series of events one by one. When a child plays a violent game, they usually play it to have fun with friends all over the world, to relieve stress, or even to hang out with friends right next to them. Rarely does a video game CAUSE stress or violent thoughts lest the thought, are already in existence. Now following the sequence of events the said child will now venture for a gun. But what drives this child to such an idea as wanting a gun? Possible school bullies, parental abusement, etc. But how does a gun come into play? As most people remember, any respective person's childhood years usually did not consist of complicated thoughts but rather straight-forward ones. By this I mean when a child is punised for, let's see, getting bad grades, he/she does not think "why exactly was I punished and what could I do better next time?" but rather "I better get good grades". By examining these statements I hope that many of you have realized that most children are incapable of complex thought process so when a damaging situation is presented to them, they are unsure how to deal with it. Instead of seeing a counselor as older children would, the younger would seek the closest option, either being what is on movies or video games. Lastly the respective child would take his/her anger or hurt out on the source. Usually this source would be a bully or what not. But through all of these events, where is it said that video games are the root cause of violence? It is not, because violence must be in pre-extince within the child before video games or movies simulate the agression

Any video game that keeps me too busy to watch Dr.Moron is a great game.

I've probably caused a million simulated deaths by rocket launcher, sword, and various blunt objects, yet toy guns disturb me. There is no connection. None. The man is an idiot who spouts nonsense without thinking it through.

Today's act of 'medical' negligence brought me to this page to vent some anger toward this idiot. A healthy reaction, IMHO.

Dr. Phil is a moron on many issues. I cannot stand his Match.com commercials. He doesn't have a freakin' clue on what goes on in the dating world. He makes me want to vomit everytime I hear is voice. I immediately change the channel everytime he appears.
