Nintendo Continues Worldwide Domination

Closing out their fiscal year, Nintendo has released it’s financial results, and unsurprisingly, Nintendo’s mass market appeal has once again triumphed dominated that of it’s competition.

Well on it’s way to becoming one of the most successful gaming devices ever, the Nintendo DS rounded out a total 23 million units sold over the year, tallying up to an astounding total of 40 million units overall. Leading the way for the handheld were New Super Mario Bros. and Brain Age, selling 9.5 million units, and 12 million units respectively.

Despite being nearly impossible to find in stores, the Nintendo Wii is quickly on the way to establishing itself as the premiere next-gen console, catching up to the Xbox 360’s one year head start with 5.84 million units sold in just under four months.

Is Nintendo back on track to recapture the “Nintendo Mania” we once felt in the 80’s and 90’s? Leave us your thoughts in the comments…
