Extreme Advertising: Sony Uses Beheaded Goat For God of War II

A UK website is reporting on the rather grotesque means of promotion that Sony used for God of War II at a recent launch celebration. In the midst of topless women, knife throwing, and pulling snakes out of pits, was a beheaded goat carcass, which attendees could reach inside of and feast on offal straight out of it’s stomach.
These images come to us courtesy of the UK’s Official Playstation 2 Magazine, which upon many requests and protests from animal activists is being pulled from newsstands.
The International Fund for Animal Welfare spoke out against the act, stating:
We are always opposed to any senseless killing of an animal and this sounds like a gruesome death. We condemn Sony’s actions. It is stupid and completely unjustified.
Although Sony is claiming that the animal was purchased from a butcher, and not slaughtered specifically for the party, this stunt has certainly pushed game advertising to a new extreme. Has it gone too far? It’s certainly a little too much, and had it happened in the United States it would have been blown way out of proportion. Leave us your opinions in the comments…
