According to two seperate sources, arcade title Double Dragon will be making its way to next week’s Xbox Live Arcade, while the Commodore Amiga classic Speedball II has been announced.
Kotaku reports, “Clive Kabatznik, CEO of Silverstar Holdings, let slip in a just released press release that the classic arcade brawler Double Dragon will be showing up next Wednesday on Xbox Live Arcade”, while Yahoo Biz published a press release about the old Bitmap Brothers futuresport title for the Amiga.
Double Dragon, like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is a nostalgic co-op/competitive beat-em-up arcader, but Speedball II is a true hidden gem from the sadly forgotten Amiga lineup. It is a cross between soccer, Cyberball (another future XBLA title) and Blood Bowl, with lineups to manage and a schedule to maintain. Keep an eye out for this one. It had appeared with no fanfare on the Nintendo GameBoy Advance; hopefully, it’ll get the recognition it deserves this time around.
