In my opinion, and that of many of our folks, yes, it's totally worth while.

I don't want to inteview someone that's turned off by the fact that we're unbiased. I would rather not interview someone that expects "favors" for the time.

So yes, it's worth while to let people know what's going on in the Industry. If he finds it a slap in the face then maybe that will help him realize exactly how users react to being mocked on a show build by those listeners.

Like I said, I respect him for putting the effort into doing weekly podcasts - it's a lot of work. However, I also see a firm respect for those that listen because without them you're just talking into a mic to yourself.

I'm just asking, was this news really worth it? Someone else already said it. Wasn't that enough of a slap to Major Nelson?

I'm not really angry about this. I just don't agree with what you have done here. The timing and reasons seem wrong to me.

A) 2old2play and Gamestooge are not one and the same. Different writers, designers, and fan base.

B) Since when does journalism mean having to comprise the news because of interviews, gifts, contacts, or other connection with a subject? Isn't that called selling out?

We comment on and report the gaming news. If you need sellouts, look to the hundreds of other industry ad driven sites out there.

So, what you're saying is because we held an interview with him a year and a half ago (or more) we should suppress telling people about actions we don't agree with?

I find the exact opposite to be true. If everyone we had contact with caused us to not point out the flaws in some of their actions we'd be a very biased set of sites.

This topic aside, I find it strange that this site is dissing Major Nelson. He's the same guy this site was happy to interview on it's own podcast. This action is a little bit like the pot calling the kettle black. Well not exactly but maybe you get my drift.

Has Major Nelson really been so "bad" that we don't want anything to do with him anymore? Did we have to follow the bandwagon led by other sites? I doubt if he would consider giving this site another interview if he read this.

When I say this site, I am considering that 2old2play and Gamestooge to be one and the same.

Smart move by Larry, rooting yourself as a PR guy simply by doing "free work" on the side.

I doubt he is compensated monetarily for it (directly at least), but you know that if he wanted to leave he would "negotiate" a better deal.

And, I'm sure he gets to meet more people and other developers based on his podcasts success which helps bring in even more listeners.

Plus, by doing it as an independent project, if he moved to another company he could start up another podcast and people would already kinda know where he's going with the direction.

Does anyone really beleive that Hyrb is not compensated by MS for his podcast/website? It has become the source for news regarding Xbox and Xbox Live. He has had to take advantage of that in his own contract negotiations...and MS knows that if he wasn't there, they would lose that coduit of communication to the public.

I'm still not convinced calling out a company that made your top title seller for the year is the best PR move.

Larry is right, though. I heard the podcast, and the fact is, Epic is a big bunch of hypocrites.

Totally, consumers should always vote with their wallet, I've always believed it.

However, that doesn't change my opinion that you should respect your audience a bit more, mocking them on the show THEY are listening to isn't exactly a great PR move.

If you don't agree, giving your own intelligent response is slightly better than mocking, don't you think?

So Major Nelson is sick of people whining for free content. So am I.

What is it with people demanding that everything should be free on XBLM? Buying an XBox and a game doesn't entitle anyone to anything more than what you've paid for. And if you don't like a piece of content, or think it's too expensive, DON'T BUY IT!

Everything else works that way, so why shouldn't it with video games as well?

I understand E's point, but it was how they were discussing it that was annoying. Personally I'm not buying the GoW maps. more than $2 a map is too much IMO.
