Halo 3 Beta Officially Out

After nearly a whole day’s wait, the moment of truth is upon us. Pop in your copy of Crackdown, download the auto-update, and hit that big ‘ol button to download the Halo 3 Beta.
Not much more can be said. The 911.18 MB demo is downloading on my 360 as I’m writing this, it’s moving at a pretty steady rate, and permitted everybody doesn’t flood the server at once, we’ll all be playing within an hour or two.
To compensate for the lost time, Bungie is extending the Beta by a few days, stating:
We realize this has been a pain for many and an inconvenience at the very least. Given the circumstances, we’ve decided to extend the duration of the Halo 3 Beta from June 6th to June 10th at 11:59 PM PDT. So, you lost almost a full day of play today but to make up for it we’re tacking on four more days (and a weekend at that).
One problem I’ve encountered so far: Leaving the guide display where it’s downloading tends to cancel the download completely, so beware and keep your eyes on it.
Other observation: The Xbox Live community is awesome. Within minutes of finding this out for myself, my whole friends list is already sending me messages
