IGN is reporting and translating a report that Eidos France director Patrick Melchior stated on French TV MusiquePlus that the Montreal studio would be making another Deus Ex game, and that its “first mission” will be to revitalize the franchise.
Deus Ex is a classic, Game of the Year of 2000 for many sites, including the defunct GamePen where I was the senior editor at. Deus Ex: Invisible War made the mistake of dumping the Unreal engine for a constrictive physics-engine that worked for Thief: Deadly Shadows, but not for Deus Ex because DE was all about wide-open ranged areas.
It’s doubtful that a Deus Ex 3 would be a success - it screams Tomb Raideritis to me - but one can always hope for the best.
