If a french gaming forum (and its translation) is to be believed, Gran Turismo 5 will fulfill every demand fans of the “The Real Driving Simulator” have had since the series’ release in 1997. Rumor has it that in addition to the long overdue online multiplayer, cars will also finally be susceptible to, and show, damage. Here’s the full list of RUMORED new features:
- All cars and tracks from GT4 will be included in GT5
- Additional cars and tracks to be available for download
- Choice of 4 driving views
- Cars will take and show damage
- All Ferrari and F1 racing cars available
- New city tracks
- Online multiplayer supports up to 12-20 players
- Changing weather during races
GT5 seems poised to finally offer everything that lesser known competitors have been using to steal some fans away. Although I’m sceptical that all the cars from GT4 will be available without microtransaction downloads, I can’t think of anything that’s not on this list that I would want added to the best driving game ever made.
Since racing games appeal to a smaller segment of the gaming market, I hesitate to call any racing game a “must have” for console owners. However, for fans of the genre, Gran Turismo 5 will undoubtedly be a system seller.

Haven’t played Forza, huh? Every review ever written for it compares it favorably with GT.

Who said Forza isn’t a great racing game? Regardless, as impressive as it is that reviewers think Forza “compares…favorably” to Gran Turismo, I’ve played Forza and, like many, prefer Gran Turismo.
