EA and Mythic Entertainment have started closed beta sign-ups for their upcoming MMORPG based on the beloved Warhammer license, Warhammer Online: Day of Reckoning.
For sign-ups, one only needs to fill out the forms and wait.
The chief aspects of WO:DOR that keeps it from being a “Me, Too” MMO are twofold:
1. The Warhammer universe is a grim setting, and although it features elves, dwarves, orcs and trolls, these ain’t your D&D Daddy’s elves, dwarves, orcs and trolls. These are futuristic, gun-weilding nasty brutes. This is one bad-ass license.
2. Mythic Entertainment developed the criminally underrated Dark Age of Camelot, though after Trials of Atlantis, some think they shot themselves in the foot. However, that MMO features the best player-vs.-player of any online game in its three-way “Realm Vs. Realm” regions.

I’m afraid you have Warhammer and Warhammer 40K a little mixed up. This game, Age of Reckoning, will be based on the Warhammer universe, which is medieval fantasy with swords and magic. Warhammer 40k is basically the same universe but 40,000 years in the future. Warhammer 40k also has an MMO lined up but no real word has come of it yet.
Anyways, WAR is gonna rock regardless and I’d recommend everyone sign up to beta test it.
