Revamped Metal Gear 4 Trailer Boldly Promises 2007 Release

Konami has just released a remastered trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Of particular importance and surprise is the bold and creative way Konami dispels rumors of the game’s release date slipping into 2008 - which can be seen at the very end of the trailer.

As for the visual and technical improvements, gaming site News For Gamers explains the improvements and what to look for:

“This new version was carried out with the new engine for the playstation 3 and thus benefits from notable improvements: irreproachable fluidity, additions of effects of particles, motion blur, lightings, additional angles of camera,… the result is extremely promising.”

Other changes noted by N4G include:

  • The video is running on the latest 3D Engine on the PS3
  • New story development & extra gameplay with snake vs the enemy machine
  • Smooth framerate throughout
  • Particle effects are significantly improved. Sparks and rubble can be seen during action. Thick clouds of small stones and dust can be seen when enemy machines break objects. Smoke is more prominent.
  • Motion blur added
  • Slight angle changes added such as when Snake picks up his cigarette.

The perennial must have/system seller/most anticipated Metal Gear franchise has been a staple of ground-breaking visuals and compelling, meaningful storylines rarely even attempted in most games, much less equaled. Guns of the Patriots is slated (apparently!) for a late 2007 release on the Playstation 3.
