Digging the Grave: Target Discontinues GBA

With the Nintendo DS taking over the handheld market with over 40 million strong in virtually everyone’s hands from pre-schoolers to octogenarians, the era of the Game Boy is nearly over. Sales, while still impressive have taken a major drop, and software support is slowly diminishing in favor of the new dual screened hotness.
An insider of Target recently sent a tip to Kotaku stating that the retail chain has officially discontinued the Game Boy Advance, and hopes to have all units and software cleared out by the end of the month.
Looks like it’s time to start playing taps for our old friend, but I wouldn’t expect all retail chains to fully get rid of the six-year-old handheld just yet. The device is dirt cheap, and already has a stellar software lineup that easily appeals to all the youngin’s out there.

It’s sad, but the GBA is at the end of its life — though not to worry, it’ll still have a lot of use. Batteries, can play GB and GB Color games…
