Building SimCity Societies

Gentrify, my brothers!1Up.com has posted yet another preview, this one for SimCity Societies. Unlike regular SimCity, Societies allows you to plunk down buildings willy-nilly. Ah, but erecting buildings isn’t the goal of Societies. Rather, the game is how the populace reacts to your construction.  Call it computerized Jane Jacobs or Sim The Death and Life of Great American Cities. A brief excerpt:

As the working title implies, Societies adds a new layer of emphasis on the city’s citizens. The game introduces six “social energies” (such as Wealth or Obedience) that influence your city’s look and feel. Buildings and aesthetics change depending on how these six values develop. Focus on Obedience, for example, and your buildings will start automatically adding security cameras to monitor your citizens’ movements, Orwellian-style. Different energy balances unlock different building types, too.

Are you hot for a new variation of SimCity (which is not developed by Maxis, either)?

yes, i just recently thought of a new SimCity type game, and i have no idea if it already exists, but howabout the creation of a ground-site life station on some distant planet? with complications such as meteor strikes, alien life, cosmic shields failing and therefore rendering sections of the area unhabitable until they are repaired… its just something i have recently thought of, and if a game (preferebly free and downloadable) such as this exists, i would be greatly appreciative if told.
