German Ratings Board Reveals Marathon for 360

Before the days of the Master Chief, and long before the “Xbox” was conceived, developer Bungie wasn’t the same 350 pound gorilla (Don’t you mean 360 pound gorilla? - ed.) it is today. As one of the few developers focusing strictly on the Macintosh, Bungie didn’t quite have the guaranteed million selling success they have today as a first-party developer for Microsoft.
However, they did manage to carve out a niche fanbase with their Marathon series; one many claim to be the spiritual successor to Halo– and all signs are pointing to us getting a version of the Mac hit on Xbox Live Arcade.
The German version of the ESRB, the USK, recently posted that the second title in the Marathon series, Marathon: Durandal has recently undergone ratings approval, which likely means that we’ll be seeing Marathon in some form or another on the 360, given the results of the last time a leak got out with Prince of Persia Classic (which hits the Xbox Live Marketplace tomorrow).
It’s a brilliant plan for Microsoft and Bungie. Anything developed by “the guys who made Halo” written anywhere near it is an instant buy for most gamers within the Xbox community. Even better, it’ll reintroduce the gaming community to Marathon and could provide Bungie with an alternative series to fall back on.

Remember - Halo was first intended for the Mac - and Marathon takes place in the Halo universe.

Actually Jonah, while Marathon and Halo are similar, Bungie has continuously stated that they do not take place in the same universe.

I never got around to playing Marathon, being a youngster (19) and all - I can’t wait for this though, I can’t even download it from Bungie’s site, since it’s Mac only.
Good to see you Knuckles. I don’t recall anything being mentioned about Marathon and Halo being in the same universe, but I don’t know a whole lot about it. I know the GFW guys brought it up and called it a standalone, as did the Retronauts. Hmmm…
