IGN Confirms HALO DS is a Real Game – Info Next Week

Matt Casamassina from IGN posted a while back that he had played Halo on the Nintendo DS. It didn’t take too long before this was debunked as strictly a rumor and was burned into vaporware. However, in IGN’s Wii-k in Review podcast for 6/15/2007 (ie: last nights) Mr. Casamassina brought it up again, and had this to say:
“It’s a real game… we’re going to lay down some ownage next week or soon afterward by showing you guys that it is a real game.“
It’s a very cool listen – if you want to look for this it takes place a little bit after the half-hour mark. IGN sounds very intent on really showing the naysayers that Halo for the DS is, or at least was, a real playable game in the vain of Metroid Prime Hunters with pseudo-X-Box-one visuals.
Casamassina cited Microsoft as the most likely reason that the project didn’t see the light of day, but it should be intriguing to see what comes up when IGN publishes some info on the fabled DS shooter within the next week or so. Keep an eye on IGN’s DS page after the weekend.
This could get really, really messy.

Very smart move for microsoft. Go where the console unit # is high.

It’s not Microsoft. Why would they develop for their leading competitor? It’s BUNGIE if anyone – Matt mentioned it was just “A developer” – he never said Bungie. Bungie could easily have given it to another party to work on.
Also Paul, it’d be smart to believe it. Whether or not you’ll ever get to play it isn’t known yet, but expect more info next week. We’ll be covering it as well.

I don’t know if you know this or not but Microsoft owns Bungie. So it is Micorsoft giving the OK for Halo to be released on the DS.
June 16th, 2007 at 4:56 pm
Damn, I really want that. That would put the DS way above the PSP.
June 16th, 2007 at 5:00 pm
Dear, MitchyD
Bungie is owned by microsoft. Nice try at a post, maybe you should learn a thing or two about the topic before you fire of your next comment.
June 16th, 2007 at 5:02 pm
That is just a poorly photoshopped copy of a famous halo pic and their title with the extra added DS. Its a load of crap because halo is Microsoft exclusive and isnt going anywhere but Microsoft products.

Yeah, the pic isn’t real. It’s the podcast that we’re referring to. The image is there for your viewing pleasure.
Xenu, Bungie is a member of Microsoft Game Studios, but I don’t think that they OWN them outright. They might, I’m not 100% sure, but you never know. Regardless, Rare put out Diddy Kong Racing on the DS, and Microsoft BOUGHT them for a ridiculous amount of money. It’s ALWAYS possible.

It’s brilliant. What’s the best way to win the Japanese and foreign market? Put your blockbuster on another console that isn’t in direct competition, and give those non-halo loving bastards an easy outlet to get hooked. Unless M$ has a hand-held in development for the very near future, this plan could work.
June 17th, 2007 at 12:48 am
The Zune is supposedly under development to get some games, but you make a valid argument. The DS is THE system to sell a franchise in a country where your console means less to people than how many times they blink in an hour.

The ds is the best selling handheld console ever, bungie are probably considering this because of the very unikeliness of microsoft ever releasing a handheld, i mean look at the lead nintendo have. m$ must know they will never catch up and bungie like the sound of 40 million ds owners eyeing up a big name like halo, business sense.
June 17th, 2007 at 9:11 am
The Zune games will probably be along the same lines as those for the iPod, hardly competition for the DS. I think this is a great move too, as was mentioned before, the DS and XBox are not direct rivals.

So what if Bungie is owned by Microsoft? There are no Xbox portable systems out, are there? That’s why Rare could remake Diddy Kong Racing for the DS, even though there owned by Microsoft. Age of Empires and Zoo tycoon (two PC game series owned by Microsoft) had remakes on the DS. Halo DS is a perfectly reasonable idea. And if it is real, it will probally be the first to fully use Wi-Fi and voice chat. Amen!

If this is real ill buy it.nintendo best handheld halo best first person shotter. ds 40 million owned.thers no way halo would not sell.
October 19th, 2007 at 6:50 pm
It would be a smart idea. I mean look at Metroid Prime: Hunters. Amazing Cinematics and good gameplay and WiFi. Halo would jus swipe that perfect good game. Instead of talking between games you can talk while paying and it better have good graphics and good guns. Cause so far i’ve seen the graphics for the game and it sucks so it should be fixed like Metroid Prime Hunter graphics atleast or better. Pce out. Microsoft will make alot of money if they allow them to make it for Nintendo.(50million for the agreement and 20% of all profits.)
November 23rd, 2007 at 4:24 am
I wanna buy it. And it’s not a fake, its real! And not a BS!
December 20th, 2007 at 6:11 am
WOW! I hope Halo DS really gets released if it does I’m gonna buy no matter the price because I’m a huge fan of Halo.
March 30th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
this is real. bungie gave the rights to halo to nintendo apparently. microsoft does not own bungie. bungie left microsoft after completing halo 3 and halo wars.
April 20th, 2008 at 3:13 am
HOLY COW I WANT TO VOTE FOR THIS SO I CAN PLAY IT ON DS AND MY FRIEND ISAAC THINKS THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF IT COMES OUT IM GOING TO PLAY AND SO IS MY FRIEND ISAAC SO I WANT THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THIS GAME TO KNOW THAT WE WILL BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!P.S.my friend said if it doesnt come out hes going to hurt someone!!! so make it come out or im going to die T.T aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Runs around like crazy*
May 4th, 2008 at 7:42 am
If Age Of Empires 2 (which is a Microsoft Product) went onto the DS then why not Halo? It would Boost Nintendo’s sales by a heap and Turn DS Fans Into Xbox and PC Fans
EVERYONE, TO GET WHAT WE WANT E-MAIL MICROSOFT, NINTENDO & BUNGIE AND PLEAD FOR THEM TO MAKE HALO DS, THEN SIGN YOUR NAME DOWN FOR HALO DS PETITONS! THEIRS NO WAY WE CAN LOSE MUHAHAHAHA!
May 23rd, 2008 at 5:57 pm
Holy i have a friend who would love that game……. ME TOO…….RELEASE IT PLEASE!
please halo ds would be so cool
Wii would be cool

Here is the truth about Halo ds (I have it) the game will never get published… there is a website to download it on for the cyclo ds. The sad part is it is only in its testing period so you wont be able to get the full version for a while.
here is the website haxe fun

June 27th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
That Homebrew app isnt even close to halo awesome but its obviously not going to be released. The reign of the DS and PSP are sure to end soon since they both came out 4 years ago and just like any other gaming console. Its been how long now a year? And it still hasnt been published.
July 19th, 2008 at 1:18 am
I still hope Halo DS sees the light of day.

put the demo on a web site please i have only played halo once and i dont have any thing besides a ds that could be able to play it
February 2nd, 2009 at 7:43 am
why do u idiots believe this shit?
havnt u realised that the DS is Nintendo, and Halo is Bungie/Microsoft, u r all dumb, why would Bungie/Microsoft sell the rights of Halo (or lend them)to Nintendo?
Its not gona happen, and throw those dumb DS’s away, 360’s are for Halo. GET ONE
February 2nd, 2009 at 2:26 pm
The DS is not a competing platform, and Microsoft has ALREADY put its licenses on it, like Zoo Tycoon, Age of Empires and Viva Pinata.
May 10th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
Listen, To the f—-heads out there. It’s common knowledge that Bungie SPLIT from Microsoft… SPLIT! No longer A part of. Bungie is it’s own person now. A REAL boy if you will. Thanks
May 10th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
1. Microsoft’s released titles on the DS (see: Zoo Tycoon, Age of Empires)
2. Microsoft has right of first refusal for anything Bungie does. All the deal does is allow Bungie to make more money on its own games. Bungie is now a SECOND PARTY developer.
May 19th, 2009 at 12:12 am
Still waiting for this announcement… maybe e3? lol
August 24th, 2009 at 4:46 pm

ITS BEEN CANCELLED RETARDS
January 17th, 2010 at 5:51 pm
It has been cancelled
May 27th, 2010 at 8:18 am
dammit…i was looking forward to this…
also, Andrew, Metroid Prime: Hunters uses voice chat, but only friends/rivals matches…if u dont get it, look it up.
but yeah, Bungie is dropping the Halo franchise now that Reach is out, but the guy who was interviewed sed there could always be more halo games “as long as there is a big enuf fan base.” so, the next group to work on halo could make a DS halo game.
personally, i hope it is more similar to metroid prime hunters than like COD:MWM <-(game is crap, u cant even jump…)
May 27th, 2010 at 10:03 am
Bungie is not dropping Halo. They will be heavily supporting Reach postlaunch and will be working on a new Halo game in a few years.
Meanwhile, Frank O’Conner will be doing Halo from 343 Industries.
August 2nd, 2010 at 9:23 pm
Guys, bungie hasn’t had anything to do with halo for a while.
C’mon.
