A Gamestop/Eb Games Weekly Ad is showing off a third-party peripheral for the Nintendo Wii that will let your standard Wii-mote function a la the original NES’ Light Gun. Titled the “Wii Blaster,” the peripheral looks more like a shotgun than your standard pistol, and the advertisement claims that it works with Resident Evil 4, Wii Play, and Duck Hunt.
The device looks to be nothing more than the standard third-party peripherals we’ve already seen on the Wii, however. No signs of extra functionality other than a trigger mechanism and a case for your Wii-mote to make you look even more stupid than usual.
As the ad states, it’ll be available on June 27th for $19.99 USD.
Old-school Duck Hunt cheaters beware: Thanks to the lack of true “one to one” motion mapping, pressing the gun against the screen won’t net you any points like it did on the NES.
