Take-Two Gives Manhunt 2 a Time-Out

Manhunt 2 has been covered so much in the last two days on our site, and just about every other one out there, that it should come as no surprise that Take-Two has now officially put the controversial Manhunt 2 on the proverbial back-burner.
In an attempt to sort out a solution to get the game out to retail, further development has been put to a halt, with a Take-Two representative stating:
Take-Two Interactive Software has temporarily suspended plans to distribute Manhunt 2 for the Wii or PlayStation platforms while it reviews its options with regard to the recent decisions made by the British Board of Film Classification and Entertainment Software Rating Board. We continue to stand behind this extraordinary game. We believe in freedom of creative expression, as well as responsible marketing, both of which are essential to our business of making great entertainment.
It’s kind of going against the whole “freedom of speech” thing in a really shady way. Rockstar and Take-Two are legally allowed to produce Manhunt 2 and distribute it, but with no support from either platform holders or retail chains, they would just be sending the game out to die.
