Didn't you have an article stating that you disliked casual games that make it so simple for everyone to play? Now games that are too hard suck? Call me old fashion but I enjoy working and improving in things, not having them handed to me. Maybe one day game developers will release a choose your own adventure game where all you have to do is hit "A" to progress and you will have your gaming nirvana. There is always Barbie's Horse Adventure for you in the mean time.

To some. For most, it's one big hassle with no sense of accomplishment, just "Finally, I got it over with."

Two Words...Ninja Gaiden

Checkpoints
Big Boss Battles
No branching storyline
Very difficult throughout
No cheating

And one of the most rewarding games to play on the original XBox.

The thing that really annoys me is the "last level must be nearly impossible" disease. So many games have a good difficulty curve until the last level/boss, when the game becomes completely impossible. I don't see the point in that, what do the developers think they are achieving?

Wow. Good stuff man. I think games that force a bunch of arbitrary bullshit on you are totally redundant. Why bother playing a game like that? As much as everyone loves them, Metroid, Castlevania, and any combination of the two do not appeal to me at all. Arbitrary backtracking is such a pain in the ass I'd rather just PLAY something I can enjoy. When a game is deliberately pointless so as the player is forced to do something tireless and useless, what's the point?
