Almost shaping up to be yet another one of the industry’s biggest jokes, Killzone 2 has had a hard time in the press. Initially sending off the “oh s***” factor in spades with the “in-game” trailer that turned out to be just a “target” CG video to generate hype for the PS3 at E3 2005, the general consensus was that Killzone 2 would destroy our perception of the first-person-shooter.
Flash-forward to today, and that’s still the only piece of content we’ve seen from the game. Many felt Geurilla Studios’ sequel would make a heavy presence in some form or another at E3 ‘06, but there wasn’t even a mention of the game in Sony’s press conference.
In the words of Niko Bellic, “things will be different” with this year’s Killzone presence at E3 ‘07. Several anonymous invites have been sent out to game publications worthy enough to receive them, namely Gamespot, Kotaku, and 1UP, that list a date, time and location for an event held the week of E3, complete with one of the series’ trademark characters, the Hellghast pictured on the front.
