Konami Questions PS3 Price, MGS4 Exclusivity

With the recent USD $100 price drop of the PlayStation 3, many immediately felt the console had finally met it’s turning point, and the days of consoles sitting on shelves could very well transform into an uproar of sales.
While this seems to be an unwavering opinion, many game developers still feel lukewarm on the situation — including Konami’s North American and European operations head Kazumi Kitaue.
Expressing his concerns that the price is still way out of reach to the average consumer, Kitaue stated:
I wonder if Sony can win back user support by the price cut of just $100…I don’t expect a substantial impact…With $500, you can buy a personal computer.
While Konami still has a presence on Microsoft’s Xbox 360, perhaps it’s biggest gun, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots still remains one unattainable notch in Sony’s exclusivity belt. Many of the hardcore gaming community claim that the MGS will be the tipping point as to which console they decide to take a plunge on. Kitaue, himself doesn’t seem so surefire on where the series is going:
Since Metal Gear Solid was born for the PlayStation, we would like to keep it a PlayStation game. But we might have to take some steps.
What these “steps” may entail we’re still unsure of, but with the installed base eons ahead of Sony, the Xbox 360 would make a great financial choice for the series. Of course, these steps may involve not a simultaneous release, but a timed exclusivity deal on the PS3.
