The announcement of Gears of War for Windows Vista and XP surprised few, but one of the writers for the GamerScore Blog’s time with the game left him “in love…again…” Not exactly surprising since it’s his job to be stoked about upcoming Microsoft-supported properties, but he also included some previously unannounced features:
- To Roadie Run: Double-tap on W,A,S,D or hit the space bar
- Space Bar on PC = 360’s A-button
- DirectX 10 support on Vista (1280p!)
- GFW LIVE will be supported on both XP and Vista
- Separate achievements from 360 version, tallying up to a total of 2,250 combined
- No cross-platform play (though XP –> Vista should work fine)
I’m still bummed that we won’t be seeing any of the extra content as downloadables on the Xbox 360, though. They seem to be under the perception that everyone who loved Gears on the 360 will “fall in love all over again” and think of this as a proper sequel.
