Frankie: “There has never been… any sort of Halo DS”

We’ve been ragging on IGN since Matt Casamassina said that the “naysayers [were going to be] owned” when he showed off Halo DS on IGN a week after a certain podcast. This doesn’t come without justification seeing as how enthusiastic he was about legitimately letting people see it… However, Bungie’s Frank O’ Connor has come out and made a statement totally nullifying Mat’s statement:
“there has never been an officially funded or sanctioned development of any sort of DS Halo game.”
Now, if Casamassina did play a Halo DS, it’s irrelevant, since the game would never have seen the light of day anyway, since Bungie had nothing to do with it. Now, a month later, Casamassina has yet to show anything on IGN even remotely close to a DS version of the acclaimed First Person Shooter. If Frankie’s statement is true, does this make Casamassina a liar? Probably not. He could have played a version made by a small developer in one of many of the games’ pitches, mentioned in the X3F article after the jump. Who knows, really? I think this is the end of this shenanigans, since Casamassina likely won’t be able to show anything on IGN… It would be nice, but don’t hold your breath.
