Xbox360Fanboy is reporting that the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine has yet another rumor stating that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be making it’s way to Microsoft’s Xbox 360, and away from the series’ days of Sony-exclusivity.
Like previous reports, OXM states that the 360 version will arrive shortly after the supposed last installment in the series hits shelves as a PS3 exclusive. Here’s what X3F heard from their tipster:
OXM declares that a “bankable source” told them that Metal Gear Solid 4 is definitely coming to Xbox 360. The game is reportedly being ported by a separate team — which isn’t headed by Hideo Kojima — and should ship “a few months” after the PS3 version.
Ever since the rumor first appeared, it’s been a constant flip-flop of whether or not Hideo Kojima’s fabled franchise would grace the Xbox 360, most recently with Sony’s E3 2007 press conference firmly declaring MGS4 as a PS3 exclusive title. I could really see this one going either way, and perhaps Sony is banking on their recent price drop fire sale granting the PS3 enough of an installed base to please Konami.
And like I said before in a previous post, “its not like a Metal Gear game hasn’t appeared on Microsoft’s platform before. After a timed exclusive stint on the PlayStation 2, Sons of Liberty eventually appeared on the original Xbox.”
