Heavenly Sword Demo Next Week [UPDATE]

A collaboration of PS3 Fanboy and IGN have reported that a demo for Heavenly Sword will be available this week in Europe, and likely America/Japan as well! This is excellent news, since the game looks to be one of the must haves for PS3 owners looking for some sweet sweet action. Industry journalists have been saying that the game is more than a ‘Goddess of War’, but you can find out for yourself next week when/if the demo comes out in your area on Thursday, July 26th.
Heavenly Sword has a lot of hype to live up to, but from what we’ve seen of the combat and visuals, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be easy for Nariko it to disappoint us when the game is released this fall.
[UPDATE] Kotaku has confirmed that the Heavenly Sword demo will be out in North America as well.

If it’s alright with you, Mitch, I believe I’ll just download it this week with those undeserving Europeans. Didn’t they get Super Rub-a-Dub first? So, it only seems fair.
On another note, with this game slated for release in September at the earliest, does anyone else think this demo is coming out a little early? I know everyone is going crazy for this game after E3. And certainly the PS3 could use some continued good press, but this demo will excite people for 2 weeks maximum. After that, they’ll come down off their high and have to wait again for at least a month.
It’s during that time after the demo and before the game’s release that at least some people will convince themselves that they don’t like the game as much as they thought they would. But if you time the release of the demo for a short period just before the game’s release, you’ll secure the sales from these people because they’re all hyped up on the demo.
I always thought the 360 did this well by timing their demo releases to just before the game’s release. Maybe Sony’s looking at it as a way to capitalize on the price drop/clearance and pull in some new buyers who would otherwise wait for the game’s release.

I don’t see the timed release being too much of a factor. Looking at the Official Playstation Forums, people are craving for new content, and with the PS3’s lineup yet to take off, it’ll keep many interested in the system.
