Sony has taken a lot of flack over the lack of rumble in the PlayStation 3’s SIXAXIS controller, and after settling with Immersion, many felt that a redesigned SIXAXIS would be one of the foremost concerns for SCE. A recent statement however, reveals that there is indeed a refinement in the works for the controller, but not what we expected.
Speaking to GamePro, Sony’s Director of Corporate Communications David Karraker stated:
We have not added rumble [to PS3], and have no announcements regarding this feature. From time to time, we make minor enhancements to the controllers for our platforms. We recently sent out to the development community some new prototypes that have a slightly enhanced sensitivity for the analog sticks and the motion sensing within the Sixaxis controller.
So, addressing minor changes and leaving the most requested issues unresolved? That would be like redesigning the PSP without a second analog stick — oh, wait.

Its all preference. I know people that like rumble and people that don’t. I think its pretty 50/50.
If its just straight up rumble, I don’t want it. If its the talked about touchsense, I will take it. Rumble never did anything for me other than make me angry when my hands would sweat.
As for the PSP, when was the last time Nintendo “ADDED” anything to a exsisting handheld during a redesign. NEVER. I think that other stick will come about when the next gen of psp is released.
