GameFest: 360 MMO’s allowed to require hard drive

The idea has popped up once before. But it was cleared up rather quickly. But at Microsoft’s GameFest 2007 developers were told that if they want to make an MMO that requires a Hard Drive they may do so. The weirdest part of this announcement isn’t that developers are allowed to make it mandatory to require a HDD. It’s that they can say a particular game requires 30GB (or more) free space.

“Feel free to require 30GB for your game; that’s just going to make your potential audience a lot smaller.”

This can only be left to our non-video game developing imaginations as to what sort of hard drive restrictions we’ll see.
