Microsoft Eschews E for All

Microsoft will be joining Sony as E for All holdouts, along with Midway, Capcom, and Sega, according to to GameIndustry Biz. The IDG World Expo-run show, which promises to bring back the glitziness of the old E3 shows, still has Nintendo and Electronic Arts involved, as well as THQ, Konami, and Bandai Namco. So while first party titles for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 may not be there, at least there will be plenty of third party titles for those systems.

While not making any official statements, at least one publisher indicated to GamesIndustry.biz that it questioned the return on investment based on the number of attendees and the cost. There were also some concerns with the proximity of the event to the TGS. IDG could not be reached for comment.
