Lair got pounded in the reviews… Some critc outlets scored it a 9, and others as low as 4.9. Electronic Gaming Monthly, a Ziff Davis magazine property, handed out the upcoming dragon-aerial-combat game an average batch of scores: 5, 5.5, and a 6.0. Crispin Boyer of EGM got to interview Julian Eggebrecht, president of the games developer, Factor 5. This interview’s been a long time coming as it’s been hinted at for about two weeks, and Eggebrecht mentioned that it was coming when he appeared on the Full Moon Show - it’s a very good discussion between the two, as Eggebrecht defends using strictly motion control as well as how everything lead up to the release, and Boyer justifies (boy does he!) his mediocre score.
Lair itself isn’t perfect, that’s for sure. The reviews pouring in seem to have issues with all of the same things: the controls. While they’re not the greatest, they work. Eggebrecht makes a batch of very valid points, but as Boyer and everyone else says, “Why not include the option for analog controls?”. It’s a very heated discussion both on the podcast and around the internet. What do you think? Will you be playing the game, or is this another swing-and-a-miss?
Oh well. Back to Warhawk.
