No DLC For Viva Piñata; Makes Horstacio Cry

Sad HorstacioFor those of you Viva Piñata afficionados, some sad news coming out of Rare’s Scribes column, they dropped the bomb that there would be no downloadable content for the game in the foreseeable future, chiefly because they were hard at work on a big project (probably Banjo-Kazooie 3).

It really is a shame that VP didn’t become the huge hit that Microsoft was hoping for, but it was stuck in the Sour spot between games for kids and deep strategy for adults. Those of us adults who accepted the semi-cutesy nature of the game and the “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” Pokémon vibe really got into the garden (micro)management. VP is definitely a title that demands more content - more Piñatas, more plants, more everything.

But alas, there is no new stuff coming - or a Viva Piñata 2 for that matter - anytime soon.

(Thanks, Xbox 360 Rally via Xbox 360 Fanboy.)

sad face. This game was good but it never got it’s chance. I was the first to say “this is going to suck” and was totally wrong… but I was rebelling when they were hyping the crap out of Viva. Then, one day, this thing called Gears of War was coming and they said “screw kids” again and went back to the same ol’ Microsoft.

If they’re not going to bring in some of these games slowly to get people adopting it their going to fail every single time.

It’s like they had this great idea and then got bored with it and let it fail. They released it at a bad time (in the wake of GoW) and they didn’t keep up with the marketing (something Microsoft is good at to begin with).

They told us DLC was going to be all over the place for this title and now they abandoned those that believed them.

    Fail. A bunch of fail.

Banjo-Kazooie 3 is a kid friendly title. So is the Viva Pinata party title.
