PS3 Firmware 1.92 Hits

If you were up late last night, you would have been bothered in the middle of a game of Warhawk to see that there’s a new Firmware available for the PS3. What this firmware update does is fairly mysterious, since it didn’t really detail what went in to it, but according to PS3Fanboy, the update offers the following:
- The ability to add Flash wallpapers
- Web browser improvements
- Controllers auto-power off after inactivity
- The XMB loads icons and video thumbnails much faster. Transitions between games and the XMB are all reportedly faster too.
- Backwards compatibility updated for consoles lacking the Emotion Engine
The last bullet there is a pretty sweet deal for those with an 80 Gigger… Too bad we STILL can’t access the XMB in the middle of a game, a la X-Box Live. The update supposedly increases/improves SIXAXIS control, which would be fantastic for the poor saps who picked up Lair this week. Ahem.
Nothing really makes me say “wow” but hey, an update’s an update, and I won’t complain with the improving of the Playstation 3 in any way.
